Product description

Laser disks - not too reliable media. Even with careful handling, you are not immune to scratches and contamination of the surface (often drive mills directly to the drive itself and you are powerless to resist). But even a very normal-looking disc can contain internal defects that lead to its complete or partial illegibility at standard drives. This is especially true for the CD-R / CD-RW disc, the workmanship of which still leaves much to be desired, and the recording process is associated with the emergence of various kinds of errors.

However, even with the physical destruction of the surface laser disc can be read is quite normal due to the huge redundancy data stored on it, but then, as the proliferation defect correction capacity of Reed-Solomon suddenly no longer enough, and the disc without any apparent reason, refuses to read and or even not recognized by the drive.

Fortunately, in most cases, the information stored on the disc can still be saved, and this article explains how.
